Game Summary

ST. JOSEPH, Minn. — Ashley Luehmann (Lewiston, Minn.) and Jessica Weisbrod (Rollingstone, Minn.) did their part Monday evening, as Luehmann netted a game-high 20 points and added 10 rebounds to record her first double-double of the season, while Weisbrod chipped in 10 points and five boards.

Unfortunately, the rest of the Saint Mary's University women's basketball team failed to follow suit.

Take away the 30-point combined contribution from Luehmann and Weisbrod, and the Cardinals managed just 14 points against Saint Benedict, as the league-leading Blazers cruised to a 54-44 win.

It was a new day, but the same old story for the Cardinals, as SMU managed just 17 first-half points — hitting 7 of 24 field goal attempts — in falling behind 28-17 at the break.

Things didn't heat up from the field for the Cardinals in the second half, as they posted their second straight 7-for-24 performance, but an 11-for-12 effort from the free throw line helped SMU outscore the Blazers 27-26 over the final 20 minutes.

That, however, was too little, too late, as the Blazers handed SMU its second straight loss, dropping the Cardinals to 5-11 in the MIAC and 9-12 overall.
