WINONA, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University women's tennis team closed out its regular season on a high note, as the Cardinals cruised to an 8-1 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference win over UW-Stout Tuesday afternoon.
"We played well," said SMU coach
Jeff Halberg. "It's always nice to end your (regular) season with a win, and to play as well as we did makes it that much better."
The Cardinals rolled to wins in five of the six singles matches — winning all five in straight sets, dropping just 17 games in the 10 sets — while also sweeping all three doubles matches.
"With the conference tournament coming up, it was important for us to put in a strong showing (against Stout)," said Halberg. "Hopefully we can carry this momentum into this weekend."
