WINONA, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University women's tennis team entered Saturday's nonconference matches at UW-Stout and Wisconsin Lutheran riding a two-match winning streak.

More impressively, sophomore Val Meschke (Pine River, Minn.), meanwhile, was riding a seven-match string she took the court for her No. 3 singles match against UW-Stout's Danielle Farchmin.

The Cardinals — and Meschke — both kept their streaks in tact, rolling to an 8-1 win over UW-Stout and an 8-1 victory vs. Wisconsin Lutheran at the SMU Tennis Center.

Meschke fueled an SMU singles sweep against the Blue Devils, posting a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 3. Shannon Cooney (Eden Prairie, Minn.), Ann Leeder (Greenfield, Wis.)), Toni Troumbly (Bovey, Minn.) and Brittney Nielsen (Apple Valley, Minn.) were also straight-set winners, while Aubrey Hirsch (Topeka, Kan.) completed the sweep with a three-set, 1-6, 6-2, 10-5 win at No. 4.

Leeder and Hirsch teamed for an 8-3 win at No. doubles against UW-Stout, while Cooney and Abby Cooper (La Crosse, Wis.) were 8-2 winners at No. 2.

And, as easy as SMU made it look vs. the Blue Devils, it was even easier vs. Wisconsin Lutheran, as the Cardinals picked up default wins at No. 4, 5 and 6 singles and No. 2 and 3 doublbes.

Coleen Rademacher (Belgrade, Minn.) and Cooper picked up 8-1 wins at No. 2 and No. 3 singles. Sara Clements (La Crosse, Wis.) and Brianna Placek (Greendale, Wis.) then teamed for an 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles to complete the rout.
