Game Summary
KENOSHA, Wis. — Fresh off a 3-0 victory over Northland — a win that marked the Saint Mary's University men's soccer team's highest offensive output in over a year — head coach Chris Dembiec was hoping for a repeat performance when the Cardinals returned to the field Tuesday against Carthage.
What he got, however, was a repeat performance all right — of SMU's first two offensive performances, in which the Cardinals managed just one goal in the two games combined.
The result was a 2-1 loss to the Red Men.
Carthage got on the board first, as Greg Golsberry beat SMU goalkeeper
Jim Schultz (Kenosha, Wis.) with less than six minutes remaining in the opening half. The Cardinals evened the score eight minutes into the second half, as
Andre Seckler (Chicago, Ill.) netted his first collegiate goal. Carthage regained the lead — and iced the win — 13 minutes later on a goal by Doug Fitzergerald.
The Cardinals, who fall to 2-2-0 overall, are back in action Saturday, opening Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play at St. Olaf.
