Game Summary vs. Beoit

BELOIT, Minn. — Saint Mary's University women's soccer coach Eric Zimmerman had just three words to say after Amy Sibik (Onalaska, Wis.) netted her team-leading eighth goal of the season in the first half of Sunday's nonconference game against Beloit.

"It's about time."

Zimmernan had just three words to say after the game, as well.

"It's about time."

The Cardinals, getting a first-half goal from Sibik and a second-half tally from Amanda Rahman (Rochester, Minn.), put an end to their season-high five-game losing streak — a streak that saw SMU fail to score a goal — posting a 2-0 win over the Buccaneers.

"It's nice to get back in the win column," said Zimmerman, whose team had not won since a 1-0 victory over Ripon on Sept. 28. "We've actually played some pretty good soccer, but weren't getting the end result for our efforts. Today, we were able to put it all together and get the win.

"It's a good feeling."

Sibik put an end to the Cardinals' scoreless drought — which spanned five games and more than 530 minutes — with her eighth goal of the season in the game's 20th minute. Rahman then gave the Cardinals some breathing room, as the SMU freshman netted her third goal of the season in the 76th minute.

Mariana Sanchez (Puebla, Mexico) stopped all three shots she faced to record the shutout, her second of the season.

"We needed a game like this," said Zimmerman, whose team stays out of conference play on Thursday, traveling to UW-Stout for a 7 p.m. game, before closing out its season on Nov. 1 with a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game at Bethel.
