The Cardinals are coming off a pair of back-to-back 5-4 overtime decisions. Sheree Haslemore (Gore, New Zealand) scored two minutes into overtime to lift SMU to a 5-4 OT win over UW-Eau Claire on Friday, then Lake Forest turned the tables on Saturday, scoring 58 seconds into overtime to beat SMU 5-4. … Gustavus, meanwhile, bounced back from a season-opening, 2-1 OT loss to Adrian on Friday with a 3-0 victory in the teams' rematch Saturday.

A Year Ago: SMU and Gustavus met three times a year ago, with the Gusties coming away victorious all three times. Gustavus outscored the Cardinals 12-1 in the teams' two-game MIAC series, winning 6-1 and 6-0, before adding a 3-1 victory in a nonconference game on Jan. 12.

All-Time Series Record: With their three wins a year ago, Gustavus enters tonight's game riding a 15-game unbeaten streak (14-0-1), and is 21-5-3 all time against the Cardianls. SMU has not beaten the Gusties since the 2001-02 season, when the Cardinals knocked off the Gusties 2-1 in the championship game of the MIAC Tournament.

Cardinal Notes: With their win over UW-Eau Claire on Friday, the Cardinals put an end to their six-game losing streak vs. the Blugolds, dating back to a 5-1 SMU win on Nov. 5, 2005. … Friday's win was also SMU's first nonconference win since a 4-2 victory over Finlandia on Feb. 4, 2006, a span of 12 games (0-10-2). … The Cardinals snapped yet another streak with their Friday win, putting an end to a seven-game winless streak (0-1 this season and 0-5-1 to end 2007-08). … SMU's OT victory was their first since beating Finlandia 1-0 on Feb. 3, 2006. …  SMU's overtime games vs. UW-Eau Claire and Lake Forest were the first back-to-back OT games since the Cardinals beat Concordia (2-1) and Finlandia during the 2005-06 season. … Sheree Haselmore (Gore, New Zealand) netted her first collegiate goal — the game-winner in overtime — vs. UW-Eau Claire Friday, then added a goal and an assist vs. Lake Forest on Saturday. …  SMU's five goals vs. the Blugolds came from five different players — Haslemore, Madison Sienko (Mendota Heights, Minn.), Ingrid Klockars (Wheaton, Ill.), Katie Cachey (Orland Park, Ill.), and Ashley Mileykovsky (Northbrook, Ill.). …  Four different players — Cachey, Haslemore, Jamie Henneman (Countryside, Ill.) and Ingrid Klockars (Wheaton, Ill.) — accounted for SMU's four goals vs. Lake Forest. … Madeline Lenz (White Bear Lake, Minn.) made her first career start last Friday vs. UW-Eau Claire, stopping 32 of the 36 shots she faced. …  Cachey and Haslemore share the team lead in points (3), while Stevie Fiek (Rochester, Minn.) and Francie Steger (Chicago, Ill.) share the team lead in assists with two each. … SMU has now allowed three or more goals in 20 of its last 26 games — including the Cardinals' last 12 straight. … The Cardinals — 0-1 on the road this year — won just two of 12 road games last season (2-8-2). … The Cardinals, who scored just nine power play goals a year ago, have already scored four power play goals this season.

Gustie Notes: The Gusties kick off their bid for a sixth straight MIAC regular-season title tonight vs. SMU. … Gustavus, which is currently ranked fifth in the USCHO.com Division III poll, has been picked as the preseason favorite to win the 2008-09 MIAC crown by the MIAC women's hockey coaches. … Gustavus seniors Mari Gunderson, Jessie Doig, Jenny Pusch, and Christine Wicker have helped the program post a record of 72-11-2 overall and 52-1-1 in the MIAC during the past three years. … Mollie Carroll netted her first collegiate goal to account for GAC's lone goal vs. Adrian in last Friday's 2-1 loss, while Lynn Hillen scored twice and Alyssa Saunders once in Saturday's 3-0 victory. … Emily Klatt made her first collegiate start a memorable one, stopping all 25 shots in blanking Adrian Saturday. … Fellow freshman Danielle Justice had 17 saves in her first collegiate start the night before. … All three of Gustavus' goals vs. Adrian Saturday came on the powerplay.
