Last Action:
The Cardinals struggled in the first half for the second game in a row, managing just 16 points in the opening 20 minutes in falling to UW-River Falls 67-49 in a nonconference game last Tuesday. … Macalester, meanwhile, won for the second time in three games, posting an 85-43 victory over Oberlin (Ohio) on Nov. 23.

Last Meeting: Macalester swept the season series against the Cardinals a year ago. SMU struggled to just 19 points in the second half in falling to the Scots 58-45 on Dec. 3, and the Scots used an 18-9 run over the final nine minutes to pull away from a 42-42 tie en route to a 60-51 triumph on Jan. 30.

Cardinal Notes: With Tuesday's loss vs. UW-River Falls, the Cardinals have now started the season 0-2 in each of the last two seasons. … Cherie Kulig (Independence, Wis.) scored in double figures for the second straight game last Tuesday, tossing in 11 points vs. the Falcons. The sophomore had opened the season with a 13-point effort vs. Winona State. … Kulig also pulled down a career-best nine rebounds vs. UW-River Falls to miss her first career double-double by one board. Kulig's previous high in rebounds was five vs. St. Olaf on Jan. 5, 2008. … Michelle Carne (Escanaba, Mich.) scored a career-best 15 points vs. UW-River Falls, becoming the second different player to lead SMU in scoring in its first two games. … SMU struggled from the 3-point line vs. UW-RF, hitting just 8 of 19 attempts.
