Last Night: Hamline scored two goals in less than 20 seconds midway through the first period and never looked back in handing the Cardinals a 4-2 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference setback Friday evening at the SMU Ice Arena.

A Year Ago: Hamline took both games of their two-game series a year ago, outscoring the Cardinals 8-5 in the first game — despite a pair of goals from SMU's Mike Glaesmer (Traverse City, Mich.) — then held SMU to a Morgan Shepherd (Brainerd, Minn.) goal in winning the rematch 3-1.

Cardinal Notes: With Friday's loss to the Pipers, SMU has now dropped three straight to the Pipers. … Trevor Tolibas (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and Ben Kitzmiller (Lambertville, Mich.) accounted for SMU's two goals vs. the Pipers Friday — it was the first goal as a Cardinal for each. … Scott Pederson (Lake Villa, Ill.) stopped a career-high 48 shots Friday vs. Hamline. … Seven of SMU's nine games have been against nationally ranked opponents.
