Cardinal Notes: The Cardinals, who picked up their first conference-opening win in their last three seasons with their win over Macalester last Wednesday, had their bid for their first 2-0 start since 2005-06 foiled with Saturday's loss to Bethel. … SMU's two-point victory over the Scots Wednesday also snapped a 12-game home losing streak. SMU, which went 0-10 at home a year ago, last won a home game on Jan. 27, 2007, when the Cardinals dropped Hamline 84-70. … Josh Knights (Plainfield, Wis.) scored a career-best 23 points in SMU's loss to Bethel Saturday.
