CANNON FALLS, Minn. — Tony Hynes (Lino Lakes, Minn.) did his part, carding the day's lowest round during Monday's Saint Mary's University-Macalester men's dual golf meet.

Problem was, the rest of the Cardinals weren't able to follow his lead.

Hynes toured The Summit Golf Course in a six-over-par 78 to earn medalist honors, but the Scots posted four scores between Hynes' effort and that of the next SMU competitor — Josh Wendel (Rosemount, Minn.) — in beating the Cardinals 330-344.

Along with Hynes' 78, the Cardinals got an 87 from Wendel, an 88 from Rob Klein (Lake Bluff, Ill.), a 91 from Matt Hogg (Litchfield, Minn.) and a 95 from Andy Roberts (Rochester, Minn.).

Macalester, meanwhile, was led by Nick Santrach and Matt Arck, who put together rounds of 80 and 82, while Ross Donihue and Ben Langworth each chipped in 84s and Ryan Peters posted an 87.
