: Last Action: The Cardinals saw their losing streak climb to five straight Saturday, as SMU dropped a 12-2 decision to seventh-ranked UW-Stout Tuesday at the SMU Ice Arena. … UW-River Falls, meanwhile, had its five-game winning streak snapped Friday, falling to UW-Stout 3-2.

A Year Ago: UW-River Falls, ranked No. 1 in the USCHO.com poll at the time, scored three times in the third period — the last time with 24 seconds remaining in regulation — as the Falcons escaped with a 4-4 nonconference tie against the Cardinals on Nov. 20.

Cardinal Notes: With their loss to UW-Stout on Tuesday, the Cardinals have now dropped five straight and are winless in their last six (0-5-1). … Ten of SMU's 13 games have been against nationally ranked opponents. SMU's first four games were nonconference games against No. 15 St. Scholastica, No. 8 UW-Superior, No. 6 UW-Stevens Point and No. 12 UW-Eau Claire, while conference opponents Gustavus and Hamline were ranked No. 14 and No. 13, respectively. St. Norbert entered last Saturday's game as the nation's fourth-ranked team, while UW-Stout is currently ranked seventh. … SMU has now surrendered five or more goals in four straight games. Falcon Notes: After starting 1-6-1, the Falcons have won seven of their last nine games, but had their season-high five-game wininng streak snapped with Friday's loss to UW-Stout. … Tyler Czuba entered the weekend having recorded at least one point in seven of the team's last eight games (7 goals, 2 assists, 9 points), but was held without a point vs. the Blue Devils Friday. Czuba leads the team in goals (12) and points (17) — and is one of seven UW-RF players with 10 or more points through 16 games. … Derek Hansberry, meanwhile, extended his point streak to 10 straight games (8 goals, 5 assists, 13 points) with a goal vs. UW-Stout Friday. He leads the team with five power-play goals and also has two game-winners. … The Falcons have had as many as 10 freshmen in the lineup this season. … Stephen Ritter, who had allowed just four goals in his last four starts in goal, allowed three vs. UW-Stout Friday, stopping 21 of the 24 shots he faced. … Jamie Ruff (5 goals, 6 assists, 11 points) and Ben Beaudoin (3 goals, 8 assists, 11 points) are the leading scorers among UW-River Falls' first-year players.
