Last Action:
Last Action: The Cardinals saw their two-game winning streak come to a halt Saturday, as St. Olaf handed SMU a 71-67 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference setback at the SMU Gym. … Augsburg, meanwhile, bounced back from Wednesday's 66-64 loss at Carleton with an 81-76 victory over Bethel Saturday in Minneapolis, Minn.

Last Meeting: The Auggies swept the teams' two regular-season games a year ago. Will Wright (Chicago, Ill.) knocked down a team-best 24 points, but it wasn't nearly enough, as Augsburg seemed to score at will, erupting for 96 points en route to a 96-71 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference victory on Jan. 16, 2008, in Minneapolis, Minn. … In the rematch, Wright and Lukas Holland (La Crosse, Wis.) combined to score 25 first-half points, but over the game's final 20 minutes, the Cardinals could do nothing right, as Augsburg held the SMU to a season-low 19 second-half points in turning a four-point halftime deficit into a 72-57 victory on Feb. 20 at the SMU Gym.

Cardinal Notes: Saturday's loss to St. Olaf snapped the Cardinals' season-high two-game winning streak. It was the first two-game winning streak since the 2006-07 season, while Saturday's loss also ended SMU's hopes of its first three-game win streak since disposing of Saint John's, Macalester and Hamline during a five-day stretch from Jan. 22-27, 2007. …  Will Wright (Chicago, Ill.) scored a team-high 30 points vs. St. Olaf, marking the third time this season the SMU sophomore has eclipsed the 30-point barrier. … Wright, who also netted 24 points vs. the Cobbers last Wednesday, has now scored 10 or more points in 33 of the team's last 39 games — including 20 or more points 10 times in the Cardinals' last 14 contests. …  Lukas Holland (La Crosse, Wis.) chipped in 14 points against the Oles on Saturday. It was the 20th time in SMU's last 21 games in which the SMU sophomore has scored in double figures. … Wright was the only SMU player to reach 20 points vs. St. Olaf, snapping the Cardinals' streak of two point-scorers in the same game at two straight. …  Bradley Bruno (Chicago, Ill.) scored a career-high 22 points, and also pulled down 10 rebounds en route to his first collegiate double-double vs. Hamline on Jan. 7. … Bruno's 22-point effort marked just the second time this season — and just the second time in SMU's last 30 games — that Holland or Wright have not led the team in scoring. … Wright's 30-point night vs. St. Olaf was the 13th time in 14 games that the Cardinals have boasted a 20-point scorer. SMU's loss at St. Cloud State on Dec. 30 marked the only time in the Cardinals' 11 games that they have not had a 20-point scorer. … Wright and Holland enter tonight's game averaging in double figures, with Wright boasting a team-best 21.8 ppg average, while Holland is at 16.1 ppg. …  SMU's 80 points vs. Hamline on Jan. 7 was the second time this season the Cardinals have scored 80 or more points. The other came in an 84-70 victory over MacMurray on Nov. 22. … SMU made a season-best eight 3-pointers vs. the Cobbers last Wednesday, while also shooting a season-best 86 percent (13-for-15) from the free throw line. SMU's 14 assists vs. Concordia were also a season high.

Auggie Notes: With Saturday's win over Bethel, the Auggies have now won four of their last five games, with the lone loss a 66-64 setback at Carleton last Wednesday than snapped Augsburg's season-high three-game winning streak. … The Auggies opened the season scoring a season-best 97 points in a 97-46 win over Crown, and have scored 80 or more points in four of their 13 games. On the flip side, Augsburg has allowed 80 or more points three times, including a season-high 91 points in a 91-75 loss to Concordia-St. Paul on Nov. 23. … The Auggies erupted for 43 second-half points vs. Bethel. It was the sixth time this season the Auggies have netted 40 or more points in the game's final 20 minutes. … Nate Alm and Matthew Quammen posted season highs of 25 and 23 points, respectively, to pace the Auggies to their win over Bethel Saturday. … Augsburg has had five different players lead them in scoring through 13 games. Jon Cassena has led the team six times, while Alm has been the team-leader five times, including the last two games. … Augsburg boasts four players averaging in double figures, led by Cassena (13.0 ppg). Alm (12.6 ppg), Andy Grzesiak-Grimm (10.6 ppg) and David Olson (10.4 ppg) are the other three.
