The Cardinals picked up their first win of the season Saturday, getting a team-best 16 points from Jess Miller (Carver, Minn.) en route to a 65-62 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference win over St. Olaf at the SMU Gym. … Augsburg, meanwhile, dropped its 10th straight game Saturday, falling to Bethel 73-55 in Arden Hills, Minn.

Last Meeting: The Auggies swept the teams' two conference games a year ago. In the first game on Jan. 16, 2008, Augsburg outscored SMU 24-21 in the game's opening 20 minutes and never relinquished its lead, as the Auggies handed SMU a 62-58 MIAC setback at the SMU Gym. … In the rematch, Augsburg held SMU to a season-low 17 second-half points in breaking opening a five-point game and rolling to a 64-46 conference victory on Feb. 20 at the SMU Gym.

Cardinal Notes: The Cardinals' win over St. Olaf was not only SMU's first win of the season, but it also snapped their season-long 12-game losing streak, and was their first win since a 63-48 win over St. Olaf on Feb. 2 — a span of 19 straight games. … Jess Miller (Carver, Minn.), who recorded her first career double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds vs. Hamline on Jan. 7, scored a team-best 16 points vs. the Oles Saturday. … Cherie Kulig (Independence, Wis.), coming off back-to-back 20 point-plus performances — 20 points vs. St. Catherine and 22 vs. Concordia — was held to six points against the Oles and snapped a four-game streak in which Kulig had scored in double figures. … Kulig and Miller lead the team in scoring, boasting 10.3 and 10.2 ppg averages, respectively. … Jesa Hall (Glenwood City, Wis.) chipped in 15 points vs. the Oles Saturday, equaling her season- and career-best. It was the third time this season Hall has scored 15 points. … Michelle Carne's (Escanaba, Mich.) team-high eight points vs. St. Thomas on Dec. 10 was the first time since Alysse Coates and Jess Weisbrod scored eight points vs. Carleton vs. Carleton on Feb. 9, 2008 — and just the sixth time in their last 87 games — that SMU failed to have a double-figure scorer. … The Cardinals, who trailed by seven, 30-23 at the half vs. St. Olaf, have led at the half just twice in their first 13 games. … SMU's 42 second-half points vs. St. Olaf were a season high. …  The Cardinals' loss at Hamline on Jan. 7 dropped SMU to 0-8 on the road this season. Auggie Notes: After opening the season with wins in two of their first three games, the Auggies have dropped 12 straight. … Augsburg has scored less than 60 points in nine of its 11 losses, including a season-low 42 points in a 67-42 loss at Saint Benedict on Jan. 7. … Serenae Levine dished out a season-high 11 assists in the Augsburg's loss to Bethel Saturday. Levine's 11 assists were also the most in the MIAC this season. … Shannon Renne netted a team-best 13 points vs. the Royals, while Lexi Thompson (12 points) and Michelle Richter (10 points) also scored in double figures vs. Bethel.
