Last Action:
The Cardinals' bid for their first two-game winning streak of the season came up 3.8 seconds short Monday, as Augsburg's Serenae Levine completed a three-point play in the game's final seconds in lifting the Auggies to a 69-66 win over SMU in Minneapolis, Minn. … Macalester, meanwhile, also lost in the game's final minute, as St. Catherine broke a 59-59 tie with 48 seconds remaining, then nailed four free throws down the stretch to beat the Scots 65-62 Monday in St. Paul, Minn.

Last Meeting: For the third straight game, the Cardinals failed to score more than 20 points in the first half, as Macalester held SMU to just 15 points in the game's opening 20 minutes en route to a 65-50 victory on Dec. 4 in St. Paul, Minn.

A Year Ago: Macalester swept the season series against the Cardinals a year ago. SMU struggled to just 19 points in the second half in falling to the Scots 58-45 on Dec. 3, and the Scots used an 18-9 run over the final nine minutes to pull away from a 42-42 tie en route to a 60-51 triumph on Jan. 30.

Cardinal Notes: : Jesa Hall (Glenwood City, Wis.) scored a team- and career-best 21 points in SMU's 69-66 loss at Augsburg Monday. Hall's previous career high was 15 points, a total she equaled three times this season. … Jess Miller (Carver, Minn.), who recorded her first career double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds vs. Hamline on Jan. 7, chipped in 10 points vs. the Auggies. … Cherie Kulig (Independence, Wis.) also scored in double figures vs. Augsburg, tossing in 16 points. It was just the second time this season SMU had three players score in double figures in the same game. … Kulig has now scored 10 or more points in five of the team's last six games. …  The Cardinals' win over St. Olaf Saturday was not only SMU's first win of the season, but it also snapped their season-long 12-game losing streak, and was their first win since a 63-48 win over St. Olaf on Feb. 2 — a span of 19 straight games. … Kulig and Miller come into tonight's game leading the team in scoring, boasting 11.7 and 10.3 ppg averages, respectively. … Michelle Carne's (Escanaba, Mich.) team-high eight points vs. St. Thomas on Dec. 10 was the first time since Alysse Coates and Jess Weisbrod scored eight points vs. Carleton vs. Carleton on Feb. 9, 2008 — and just the sixth time in their last 88 games — that SMU failed to have a double-figure scorer. … The Cardinals, who trailed by seven, 30-23 at the half vs. St. Olaf, have led at the half just twice in their first 14 games. … SMU's 42 second-half points vs. St. Olaf were a season high. …  The Cardinals' loss at Augsburg Monday dropped SMU to 0-9 on the road this season. SMU is now 1-20 in their last 21 road games, with their lone road win a 57-54 victory over St. Olaf on Jan. 5, 2008. … SMU's 66 points vs. Augsburg Monday were a season high, eclipsing the 65 points the Cardinals scored vs. St. Olaf two days earlier, and was just the third time this season the Cardinals have scored 60 or more points. … The Cardinals also set season highs in field goals made (23), field goal percentage (49 percent, 23-for-47), 3-pointers (9), 3-point percentage (56 percent, 9-for-16).

Scot Notes: Macalester's loss to St. Catherine Monday was its second straight — and just the second time in the Scots' 14 games in which they've lost back-to-back games. On the flip side, Macalester has put together winning streaks of two and four games. … Monday's game vs. St. Catherine was the third straight home game for the Scots, who are 5-4 on their home court and 3-2 on the road. … Monday's loss to the Wildcats was the second straight game in which St. Catherine lost in the last seconds, having dropped a 56-55 decision to Carleton on a last-second shot on Saturday. … Danielle Johnson scored a game-high 18 points vs. St. Catherine Monday. It was the first time all season that the Scots' leading scorer was not Ann Baltzer or Trina PaStarr. … PaStarr did scored 14 points vs. the Wildcats Monday and has tallied 10 or more points in 13 of the team's 14 games. … Beltzer and PaStarr enter tonight's game as Macalester's top two scorers, boasting averages of 14.3 and 14.2 ppg, respectively.
