The Cardinals saw their season-opening losing streak climb to eight straight Saturday, as Saint Benedict used a 16-7 run to end the first half and a 14-0 run to start the second to beat SMU 74-55 at the SMU Gym. … Carleton, meanwhile, got 20 points from Ally Weaver and a double-double from Sarah Lincoln in beating Hamline 84-67 Saturday in Northfield, Minn.

Last Meeting: SMU and Carleton split the teams' two conference games a year ago. In the first meeting on Jan. 12, Jess Weisbrod scored 11 of her game-high 14 points in the first half, and added 11 rebounds for her fourth double-double of the season and 13th of her career, helping the Cardinals to a come-from-behind, 63-60 win over the visiting Knights at the SMU Gym. In the rematch on Feb. 9, the Cardinals were no match for Carleton, which locked up its eighth straight Minnesota  Intercollegiate Athletic Conference playoff berth — jumping out to a 40-20 halftime lead and rolled to an 84-41 victory over SMU in Northfield, Minn.

Cardinal Notes: After seven straight road games to open the season, today's game is the second consecutive home game for the Cardinals, who picked up three of their four wins a year ago at the SMU Gym. … With their loss to Saint Benedict, SMU's season-opening losing streak climbed eight straight, and left the Cardinals searching for their first win since a 63-48 win over St. Olaf on Feb. 2 — a span of 15 straight games (SMU closed out the 2007-08 season with seven consecutive losses). … Jess Miller (Carver, Minn.) tossed in a team-high 16 points in Saturday's loss to Saint Benedict. Miller's 16 points were not only a game- and season-high, but also the sophomore's career best. … Jesa Hall (Glenwood City, Wis.) also enjoyed a career afternoon against the Blazers, scoring 15 points on five 3-pointers. … SMU's 55 points vs. CSB were the second-most scored by the Cardinals this season.
