ST. PAUL, Minn. — For 20 minutes, the Saint Mary's University women's basketball team could do no wrong against Hamline, as the Cardinals scored 29 first-half points en route to a five-point, 29-25 halftime advantage.

For the other 20 minutes, however, the Cardinals could do no right, as SMU shot just 21 percent from the field in the second half — scoring just 22 points — as Hamline, fueled by a 39-point second half, rallied for a 64-51 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference victory.

Leading by as many as nine in the first half, the Pipers pulled even, 39-39 at 13:08 of the second half, then used a 9-0 run to take the lead for good.

Jess Miller (Carver, Minn.) — who missed out on her first collegiate double-double by one rebound, scoring 10 points and pulling down nine boards, in Monday's loss to Carleton — got that 10th rebound, to go along with her game-high 16 points against Hamline. Michelle Carne (Escanaba, Mich.) and Cherie Kulig (Independence, Wis.) also scored in double figures for the Cardinals (0-7 MIAC, 0-10 overall), tossing in 12 and 11 points, respectively.

Jessica Heinen tallied 16 points to lead a trio of Hamline players in double figures, while Mary Wilkowski finished with 12 and Jackie Kelly added 10.

The Cardinals continue their busy week, playing their third and fourth games in a seven-day span, when they host St. Catherine on Saturday (3 p.m.) and Concordia on Sunday (1 p.m.)
