: The Cardinals have been off since Dec. 5-6, when they dropped both ends of a two-game conference series to defending MIAC regular-season champion Hamline. SMU fell 4-2 in the opener, then dropped a 7-6, overtime decision — despite the four-goal effort of Mike Glaesmer (Traverse City, Mich.). … Lake Forest, meanwhile, returned to action last weekend, taking on Concordia-Wisconsin in a two-game series. The two teams battled to a 2-2 tie on Saturday, with Lake Forest erupting for eight goals in an 8-2 win on Sunday.

A Year Ago: David Gross recorded his first collegiate hat trick, as the Cardinals rolled to a 7-4, nonconference victory over the Foresters in their teams' meeting on Jan. 12 in Lake Forest, Ill.

Cardinal Notes: With their two losses to the conference's defending regular-season champion Pipers on Dec. 5-6, SMU has now dropped three straight to the Pipers. … Mike Glaesmer (Traverse City, Mich.) recorded his first collegiate four-goal game in SMU's 7-6 overtime loss to the Pipers on Dec. 6. It was the first four-goal game by a SMU player since Nov. 1, 2002, when Al Schumacher tallied four goals in SMU's season-opening 9-3 win over Finlandia. … Anthony Bohn (Spring Hill, Fla.) and #A.J. Woodward# (Lenexa, Kan.) both posted three-assist games vs. Hamline on Dec. 6. It was the first career three-assist effort for Woodward, while Bohn — the team's assist leader in each of his first two seasons — has notched three of more assists in a game four times, including a pair of four-assist games. … Trevor Tolibas (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and Ben Kitzmiller (Lambertville, Mich.) accounted for SMU's two goals vs. the Pipers in their Dec. 5 4-2 loss — it was the first goal as a Cardinal for each. … Scott Pederson (Lake Villa, Ill.) stopped a career-high 48 shots vs. Hamline on Dec. 5. … Steve Murphy (Anchorage, Alaska) boasts a team-leading five goals, one more than Glaesmer and Matt Staehely (Shorewood, Ill.)… Bohn, meanwhile, boasts a team-best nine assists and 10 points. … SMU's six goals vs. Hamline on Dec. 6 were the most scored in a losing effort since the 1998-98 season, when the Cardinals dropped an identical 7-6, overtime decision to Bethel. … The Cardinals' 7-6 loss to Hamline was their third overtime game of the season. SMU is now 1-1-1 in overtime games, having beaten (6-5) and tied (3-3) Concordia on Nov. 21-22. …  The 7-6 loss vs. Hamline was also the first OT loss since falling to St. Norbert 3-2 on Jan. 11, 2008. … The Cardinals 6-5 victory over Concordia on Nov. 21 was SMU's first overtime victory since a 5-4 victory over Hamline on Jan. 26, 2007. … Eight of SMU's 10 games have been against nationally ranked opponents. SMU's first four games were nonconference games against No. 15 St. Scholastica, No. 8 UW-Superior, No. 6 UW-Stevens Point and No. 12 UW-Eau Claire, while their conference-opening opponent, Gustavus, was ranked No. 14 in the latest USCHO.com Poll, and Hamline is currently ranked No. 13. … Pederson and Greg Moore (Woodbury, Minn.) have combined for 387 saves in 10 games (.874 save percentage), as the Cardinals have been outshot 443-248. …  Twenty-five of the 56 goals allowed by SMU have come on special teams — 20 power play goals and five shorthanded tallies. … The Cardinals have been outscored 20-5 in the first period, 19-11 in the second period and 16-6 in the third. … SMU has failed to score first in any of its 10 games this season.
 
Forester Notes: Saturday's tie vs. Concordia-WI snapped the Foresters' two-game losing streak, while Sunday's 8-2 win put an end to their three-game winless streak. … The Foresters have not won back-to-back games all season, while each of their last three wins have snapped lengthy losing/winless streaks: 4-3 win over Concordia-Moorhead ended a three-game slide, 5-1 win vs. Lawrence stopped a four game slide, and 9-2 win over Concordia-WI ended three-game winless streak).  … Lake Forest has scored 20 goals in its four wins, but has been held to one goal or less in six of its 10 losses. … The Foresters have already played three overtime games this season, going 2-0-1 with wins over MSOE (3-2), Concordia-Moorhead (4-3) and Sunday's tie vs. Concordia-Wis. … Lake Forest is 1-3 vs. MIAC opponents this season, having lost to St. Olaf (7-1), Gustavus (6-1) and Saint John's (3-1), while beating Concordia-Moorhead (4-3 OT). … Seniors Scott Campbell and Brandon Kohuch have shared the goaltending duties this season, teaming to compile a 3.55 goals-against-average and a .925 save percentage. … Campbell has stopped 352 shots this season and is the program's all-time saves leader with 1,985 saves. … Kohuch stopped a season- and career-best 57 shots vs. UW-Stout on Dec. 6. … Mike Kneeland and Adam Love share the team lead in goals (6), while Kneeland also leads the team in assists (10) and points (16). … Lake Forest's eight goals and 20 points vs. Concordia-WI Sunday were a season high. …
