WINONA, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University women's hockey team, which has not played since picking up a key 2-0, 4-3 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference sweep of Concordia on Dec. 11-12, kicks off the new year with a pair of nonconference games against Marian, beginning Saturday at 2 p.m. at the SMU Ice Arena.

Last Action: The Cardinals' Ingrid Klockars (Wheaton, Ill.) scored a third-period goal to break a 3-3 tie and lift the Cardinals' to a sweep-clinching 4-3 conference win over Concordia on Dec. 12. SMU had won the opener vs. the Cobbers 2-0 behind a 29-save shutout by Kaye Collier (Hibbing, Minn.). Marian, meanwhile, is coming off a pair of nonconference games at Hamline on Dec. 19 and 20. Marian won Game 1, 3-1, but came up empty in Game 2, falling to the Pipers 2-0.

Last Meeting: This weekend's two-game nonconference series will be the first-ever meeting between the Cardinals and the Sabres.

For the second game in a row, Ingrid Klockars (Wheaton, Ill.) scored in the third period vs. Concordia on Dec. 12. Klockars' game-winner — which broke a 3-3 tie — was the fifth of the season for the SMU junior, moving her into a tie for the team lead with Jamie Henneman (Countryside, Ill.). … Henneman also leads the team in points (8), while Stevie Fiek (Rochester, Minn.) and Erin Stenseth (Eau Claire, Wis.) share the team lead in assists with four each. … Nicole Olson (New Brighton, Minn.) netted her fourth goal of the season vs. Concordia on Dec. 12. … #Julianne Bartosz (Mokena, Ill.) scored her first collegiate goal vs. the Cobbers on Dec. 12, while Brianna Drude (Oakdale, Minn.) and Fiek also scored in SMU's 4-3 win over Concordia. … Kaye Collier (Hibbing, Minn.) — who stopped all 23 shots she faced in notching her first collegiate shutout against St. Catherine on Dec. 4 — made it back-to-back Friday shutouts with her 29-save effort vs. Concordia on Dec. 12. … Collier enters this afternoon's contest against Marian boasting a 1.76 goals-against-average an a .932 save percentage. … SMU's four goals vs. Concordia in its 4-3 Dec. 12 victory were the most since beating Hamline 6-2 on Nov. 20. Those six goals vs. the Pipers are the most in a game since the Cardinals beat Hamline 8-0 on Feb. 25, 2004. … The Cardinals have outscored their opponents 11-3 in the first period.
