WINONA, Minn. — It's their one home indoor meet of the season, and the Saint Mary's University track and field teams did not disappoint the home crowd Friday evening.
Chris Fisette (Elmhurst, Ill.) collected a pair of first-place finishes,
Teri Heinzen (Marshfield, Wis.) picked up a first and a second, while
Brittany Kuehn (Sauk Rapids, Minn.),
Eric Stephenson (Jim Falls, Wis.) and
Benton Kodet (Northfield, Minn.) also collected first-place finishes to pace SMU at the Cardinal Open.
“It was a good meet for us — it's always nice to be able to run in front of a home crowd,” said SMU coach Shawn McMahon. “We had some very good times, and overall, I was pretty pleased with our performance.
“We've still got a ways to go, but I think we are progressing nicely.”
Heinzen won the long jump with a leap of 4.92 meters, then followed that up with a second-place effort of 9.95 meters in the triple jump, and a third-place showing in the 55 (7.64). Kuehn, meanwhile, won the 600, racing to a first-place time of 1:39.88, well in front of runner-up, and teammate,
