NORTHFIELD, Minn. — It was a 1-2 combination that the Saint Mary's University women's basketball team didn't have an answer for.
From the outside, Carleton's Ally Weaver was a perfect 5-for-5, while from the inside, the Knights' Hannah Oken-Berg scored 16 points and pulled down 10 rebounds, as the Knights handed SMU a 67-46 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference setback Wednesday evening.
The Cardinals, who came into the contest as the second-best 3-point shooting team in the conference, but the Knights held them to just three treys in 23 attempts.
Jess Miller (Carver, Minn.) led the way for SMU, scoring a game-high 20 points, while Weaver's 17 points and Oken-Berg's 16 led the way for Carleton.
SMU shot 38 percent from the field in the first half, knocking down 10 of 26 field goal attempts, but were just 2-for-11 from behind the 3-point line and headed into the locker room at the half trialing 34-25.
It was more of the same for the Cardinals in the second half, shooting 25 percent (7-for-27), with just 1 of 7 threes finding the mark.
The Cardinals, who fall to 3-14 in the MIAC and 3-17 overall, are back in action on Saturday, traveling to St. Catherine for a 3 p.m. conference contest.
