MOORHEAD, Minn. —
Brittany Kuehn (Sauk Rapids, Minn.) has been pointing to this weekend all season, as Friday afternoon, the Saint Mary's University sophomore didn't disappoint.
Kuehn highlighted the Cardinals' performance during the opening day of the two-day Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Chanpionships Friday, clocking a second-place time of 59.13 in the 400.
"I'm very pleased with our performance," said SMU coach Shawn McMahon. "We had some great performances and everyone is stepping up with their best in their biggest (indoor) meet of the season, which is great to see."
Teri Heinzen (Marshfield, Wis.) chipped in a fourth-place effort in the 55 (7.48) and a sixth-place effort in the long jump (5.06 meters), while
Emily Dee (Racine, Minn.) was eighth in the mile run (5:28.42), and
Joanna Pace (Minoqua, Wis.) was 12th in the 800 (2.:31.98).
On the men's side,
Chris Fisette (Elmhurst, Ill.) notched a fourth-place leap of 6.41 meters in the long jump,
Josiah Ryks (Austin, Minn.) was 12th in the 400 (51.09) and
Marty Howard (Chicago, Ill.) was 12th in the 800 (2:05.15).
The Cardinal women are sitting in 10th place after the first day of the two-day meet, hosted by Concordia College, while the SMU men are 11th.
