MOORHEAD, Minn. — On Friday,
Teri Heinzen (Marshfield, Wis.) collected a fourth-place finish in the 55 and a seventh-place showing in the long jump during the opening day of the two-day Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Indoor Championships.
Saturday, Heinzen did her Friday best one better, as the Cardinal junior raced to third in the 200, clocking a time of 26.59 that missed the school record by eight one-hundreths of a second and fueled the SMU women to a 10th-place finish in the two-day indoor event.
"It was a decent second day," said SMU coach Shawn McMahon. "We had some pretty solid performances. We had some things that didn't go our way today, but overall, I was pretty pleased with our showing."
Sara Harstad (Chatfield, Minn.) also had a solid second day, finishing fifth in the shot put (12.00 meters), while
Ashley Acosta (Winnebago, Minn.) finished 15th in the 1000 (3:16.43) and
Emily Dee (Racine, Minn.) was 19th in the 3000 (11:12.70).
Chris Fisette (Elmhurst, Ill.) was the top performer on the men's side, placing eighth in the triple jump with a leap of 13.04 meters, to lead the Cardinals to an 11th-place team finish.
