ST. PAUL, Minn. — With just two meets to go to fine-tune things for the upcoming Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships, Saint Mary's University's
Sara Harstad (Chatfield, Minn.) appeared to be tuned up just fine, as the junior recorded a fifth-place toss of 44.03 meters in the hammer throw to lead the Cardinals' charge at the Tommie Twilight Wednesday evening.
Harstad also finished 11th in the shot put (10.48 meters), while
Emily Dee (Racine, Minn.) also posted a fifth-place performance, stopping the clock in 19:20.55 in the 1,500. Other highlights in the women's-only meet included a seventh-place throw of 33.10 meters in the discus by
Nicole Heitmann (Hayward, Wis.) and a seventh-place time of 17.57 by
Bridget Coffou (Sturgeon Bay, Wis.) in the 100 hurdles.
Both the SMU men's and women's teams will compete in Friday's Central-Iowa Invitational, before heading to Northfield, Minn., next weekend for the conference championships.
