Last Action: The Cardinals surrendered three goals in the game's first 19 minutes in falling to Carleton 5-0 in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game in Northfield, Minn., Saturday. Marian, meanwhile, was also shut out on Saturday, falling to Dominican 3-0 in River Forest, Ill.

Last Meeting — Saturday, Sept. 25, 2004: Marian scored a pair of second-half goals en route to a 2-0 nonconference win over the Cardinals in Fond du Lac, Wis.

SMU Cardinal Notes: SMU GK Jon Szafranski (Barrington, Ill.) stopped a season-high six shots in Tuesday's loss vs. Bethel, then followed that up with a five-save effort vs. Carleton. Szafranski, who boasts a 1.87 goals-against-average, has now stopped 19 shots this season, pushing his school-record career saves total to 321. … Jacob Bina (West Salem, Wis.) netted his first collegiate goal vs. Bethel last Tuesday. … SMU's three goals this season have come from three different players — Bina, Steve Boussie (Troy, Mich.) and Jovenel D'Haiti (Evanston, Ill.). … Boussie also assisted on Bina's goal Tuesday to give him a team-leading three points. … After holding their first three opponents scoreless in the game's opening 45 minutes, the Cardinals have allowed four first-half goals in their last two games. … SMU won both of its games by shut out, while two of the team's three losses have also been by shutout.

Marian Sabre Notes: After opening the season with three straight wins, Marian enters today's nonconference game in the midst of a four-game losing streak. … The Sabres have been shut out in each of their last two games and have scored just once during their four-game slide. … Marian has outscored its opponents 12-1 in its three wins, and has been outscored 10-1 in its four losses. … Milan Stupar leads the team in goals (4) and points (9), while Matt Pena boasts a team-best four assists and is second in points with six. … The Sabres' 13 goals have come from nine different players. … GK Nick Hankemeyer has played every minute in goal for the Sabres, compiling a 1.33 goals against average and a .714 save percentage. … Marian has scored eight of its 13 goals in the second half.
