MOORHEAD, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University men's soccer team, coming off a much-needed three-day “break,” hits the road Saturday, traveling to Concordia for a 3 p.m. Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contest against the Cobbers.

Last Action: The Cardinals closed out a stretch of five games in an eight-day stretch Tuesday, getting a goal from Steve Boussie (Troy, Mich.) and 15 saves from Jon Szafranski (Barrington, Ill.) in a 1-1 conference tie against Gustavus Tuesday. Concordia, meanwhile, scored once in each half in posting a 2-1 MIAC win over Bethel on Tuesday.

Last Meeting: Saturday, September 27, 2008: Riley McGlynn and Justin Foss each scored two goals, as the Cobbers cruised to a 5-0 conference win over the Cardinals at Ochrymowycz Field.

SMU Cardinal Notes: Tuesday's 1-1 OT tie vs. Gustavus was the Cardinals' second straight overtime game and the third time in the last four games SMU went extra time. … SMU has played three overtime games in each of the last two seasons and are now 4-0-3 in their last seven overtime games and have not lost an OT game since a 3-2 setback vs. Macalester on Sept. 22, 2006. … The Cardinals snapped a five-game losing streak vs. the Gusties with Tuesday's tie. … Steve Boussie (Troy, Mich.) scored SMU's lone goal vs. the Gusties, moving the Cardinal junior into a tie for the team lead in goals (3) with Ryan Rademacher (La Crosse, Wis.). … Boussie also leads the team in assists (3) and points (9). … Byran Neu's (Hoffman Estates, Ill.) game-winning, double-overtime goal vs. Lakeland last Sunday was his first collegiate goal. … After stopping 23 shots in SMU's first six games, combined, SMU GK Jon Szafranski (Barrington, Ill.) has posted 10 or more saves in three of the team's last four games — including 15 vs. Gustuavs on Tuesday. … Szafranski enters today's game with a 1.44 goals-against-average and an .826 save percentage. He has now stopped 71 shots this season, pushing his school-record career saves total to 376. … SMU's 10 games have now included two own goals — one in SMU's favor, and Friday's that went against the Cardinals. … SMU has surrendered three penalty kick goals this season. The Cardinals, meanwhile, have not attempted a PK this year.

Concordia Cobbers Notes: The Cobbers enter today's game riding their second two-game winning streak of the season. Unfortunately, sandwiched in between their season-opening two-game win streak and their current two-game run was a six-game losing streak. … Concordia played its first overtime game of the season last Saturday, getting a goal by Riley McGlynn in the third minute of OT to beat St. Olaf 2-1. … The Cobbers have outscored their opponents 8-3 in their four wins, and have been outscored 11-4 in their six losses. … McGlynn has scored five of the team's 12 goals, while also leading the team with 10 points. … Marco Riboli, meanwhile, boasts a team-best three assists. … GK Mads Schmidt has played every minute in goal for the Cobbers, posting a 1.40 goals-against-average and a .745 save percentage. … Four of Concordia's six losses have come at home.
