WINONA, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University women's basketball team, coming off a 46-43 conference loss on the road at Concordia on Saturday, return home for a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game against Augsburg Monday. Tip off is scheduled for 5:45 p.m. at the SMU Gym.

Last Action: The Cardinals held Concordia to just 19 second-half points, but it was not quite enough, as the Cobbers held on to record a 46-43 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference win in Moorhead, Minn. Augsburg, meanwhile, got nine 3-pointers from Shannon Renne en route to a 78-66 conference win over Carleton in Minneapolis, Minn., Saturday.

A Year Ago: The Auggies knocked off the Cardinals twice a year ago, with both games being decided by three points.

January 19, 2009: The Auggies' Serenae Levine scored, was fouled, and completed the three-point play with 3.8 seconds remaining in regulation in leading Augsburg to its first conference win of the season, a 69-66 victory over SMU in Minneapolis, Minn.

February 21, 2009: Clinging to a two-point, 51-49 advantage, Augsburg survived three Cardinal possessions in the game's final 1:02 in handing SMU a 52-49 setback at the SMU Gym.

After being held to just five points Wednesday against St. Olaf, Jess Miller (Carver, Minn.) rebounded with a team- and game-high 19 points vs. the Cobbers on Saturday. … Cherie Kulig (Independence, Wis.) also scored in double figures vs. Concordia, netting 12 points. … Sarah Adie (Chanhassen, Minn.) scored a career-high 17 points vs. St. Olaf Wednesday. The 17-points were 15 more than her season average and 11 more than her previous career-best six points netted last Saturday vs. St. Catherine. … Jessica Thone (Woodbury, Minn.) netted a game-high 21 points vs. St. Olaf Wednesday, marking the second time this season the SMU freshman has scored 20 or more points. It was also just six points shy of her career-best 27-point effort vs. Carleton on Jan. 4. … SMU has had at least one 20-point scorer in three of their last five games. … Jamie Stefely (Lisle, Ill.) notched career-bests in points (16) and rebounds (16) en route to her first collegiate double-double vs. Hamline on Jan. 6. … Stefely's double-double was the first of the season for the Cardinals. … Miller, who has started every game in her collegiate career — a span of 63 straight starts, enters today's game vs. Augsburg boasting a team-best 13.1 ppg scoring average, while Kulig is also averaging in double figures at 10.6 ppg. … The Cardinals held Concordia to a season-low 19 second-half points Saturday. … The Cobbers' 46 points were not only the fewest allowed by the Cardinals this season, but also the fewest since SMU held Macalester to 46 points in a 54-46 SMU win on Dec. 4, 2006. … SMU hit both ends of the second-half spectrum last week, scoring its second-highest second-half effort with 38 points Wednesday vs. St. Olaf, while netting its lowest second-half effort with 17 points vs. Concordia. … The Cardinals' 80-70 loss vs. Carleton on Jan. 4 was the first OT game of the season and just the second in the last three seasons for SMU. Augsburg Auggie Notes: After going 1-1 in their first two games — including a 79-74 win over St. Catherine — the Auggies dropped 10 straight, a streak that was snapped Saturday vs. Carleton. …  Augsburg also snapped a streak of eight straight games scoring 60 or fewer points with their season-high 78-point outburst against Carleton. … The win was the Auggies' first against Carleton since a 65-61 win on Feb. 16, 2000, a span of 18 games. … Shannon Renne set a school and MIAC record for 3-pointers in a game with her nine treys vs. Carleton Saturday. … Renne also tossed in a career-high 35 points in leading the Auggies over the Knights. Her 35 points were two shy of Augsburg's single-game scoring record of 37, set by Stefanie Lodermeier in a 1995-96 game. It's also a single-game high for any MIAC women's basketball player this season. Renne went 12-for-18 from the field and 9 of 13 from 3-point range, while also adding seven rebounds and two assists. … Serenae Levine is the only Auggie averaging in double figures heading into tonight's game vs. Saint Mary's, boasting an 11.5 ppg average. … Augsburg is looking for its first road win of the season.
