WINONA, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University men's hockey team, coming off another heartbreaking loss — this time a 5-4 decision vs. Bethel in which SMU gave up a pair of third-period goals — gets another shot at the Royals Saturday evening, as the Cardinals host Bethel in a 7 p.m. Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game at the SMU Ice Arena.

Last Night: The Cardinals jumped out to a 4-2 lead and led 4-3 heading into the final 20 minutes, but the Royals scored twice in the third period — including the game-winner with just over two minutes remaining in regulation — to hand SMU a 5-4 conference setback at the Schwan's Super Rink in Blaine, Minn.

Jeff Miller (Portage, Mich.), Will Such (Broomfield, Colo.), Mike Glaesmer (Traverse City, Mich.) and Nick Carlson (Inver Grove Heights, Minn.) scored SMU's four goals vs. the Royals. … Vincent Unklesbay (Maplewood, Minn.) collected assists on three of SMU's four goals Friday. … Anthony Bohn (Spring Hill, Fla.), who had two assists Friday, leads the team in all three offensive categories with four goals, 10 assists and 14 points. … Jason Horstman (Faribault, Minn.), who kicked out 65 shots in the two games vs. St. Olaf last weekend — including 41 in Friday's 5-2 loss — had 18 saves vs. Bethel Friday. … Horstman's 41-save effort vs. St. Olaf on Jan. 15 was one save shy of the career-high 42 saves he recorded vs. Concordia on Nov. 14. … Horstman enters tonight's game vs. Bethel with a team-leading 4.09 goals-against-average and an .883 save percentage. … SMU's 33 goals have come from 16 different players, while 19 Cardinals have notched at least one point.  … The Cardinals have surrendered 13 goals in the opening two minutes of a period through 15 games. … SMU has led after two periods three times in its last six games — and lost all three. … The Cardinals have been outscored 27-11 in the game's middle period and 23-10 in the third period. … SMU's Jan. 9 game vs. UW-River Falls was the second overtime game of the season for the Cardinals, who also tied Nichols 4-4 in overtime on Jan. 2.
