WINONA, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University women's hockey team, which kicked off the 2010 portion of its schedule in style Saturday with a 6-0 win over Marian, plays host to the Sabres again on Sunday in the second game of the teams' two-game nonconference series at the SMU Ice Rink. Opening face-off is set for 2 p.m.

Yesterday Afternoon: The Cardinals' Nicole Olson (New Brighton, Minn.) scored five goals and Kaye Collier (Hibbing, Minn.) stopped all seven shots she faced, as the two led the Cardinals to a 6-0 win over the Sabres Saturday at the SMU Ice Arena.

With Saturday's win, the Cardinals have now won three straight and are 6-1-1 since opening the season with three straight losses. … Nicole Olson (New Brighton, Minn.) not only recorded her first career collegiate hat trick — she had recorded three two-goal games during her time at SMU — but also tied the school record for goals in a game with her five goals vs. Marian Saturday. … With her five goals, Olson moved into the team lead in goals (9) and points (11). … Sheree Haslemore (Gore, New Zealand) scored SMU's other goal vs. the Sabres. … Stevie Fiek (Rochester, Minn.) finished with three assists vs. the Sabres Saturday and enters Sunday's rematch with a team-best seven assists. … Seven different players had at least one assist for the Cardinals Saturday. … Kaye Collier (Hibbing, Minn.) finished with seven saves vs. Marian en route to her third collegiate shutout. The SMU freshman stopped all 23 shots she faced in notching her first collegiate shutout against St. Catherine on Dec. 4, then kicked out 29 shots for shutout No. 2 vs. Concordia on Dec. 12. … Collier enters this afternoon's contest against Marian boasting a 1.59 goals-against-average and a .934 save percentage. … SMU's six goals vs. Marian equaled their season high and are the most in a game since the Cardinals beat Hamline 8-0 on Feb. 25, 2004. … The Cardinals have outscored their opponents 13-3 in the first period.
