NORTHFIELD, Minn. — For 79 minutes of the Saint Mary's University men's soccer team's game at St. Olaf Wednesday afternoon, the Cardinals matched the Oles blow-for-blow.

Unfortunately for the Cardinals, one miscue in the game's 80th minute proved to be the difference, as St. Olaf's Mohammed Haji found the back of the net to account for the game's only goal in the Oles' 1-0 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference victory over SMU at Rolf Melby Field.

"I thought we played a pretty sound game," said SMU coach Chris Dembiec. "We had one defensive lapse in the second half and that was the difference. It was a disappointing outcome, because I thought we played well enough to win."

Chris Williams (Chicago, Ill.) finished with eight saves in goal for the Cardinals, who return to action on Saturday, playing host to Hamline in a 7 p.m. conference game at Ochrymowycz Field.
