WINONA, Minn. — For the Saint Mary's University men's soccer team, Saturday night's 1-0 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference loss to Hamline was the same old song.

“It's like a broken record,” said SMU coach Chris Dembiec. “For the last four or five games, it's been the same. We fight and fight, but we just can't capitalize at the end.”

The Pipers took the lead on a Javier Rios' goal in the game's 50th minute and never let go.

“I'm not sure if we've been healthy all year,” said Dembiec, whose team continues to be plagued by the injury bug, playing without regulars Bryan Neu (Hoffman Estates, Ill.), Adam Lindsay (Fremont, Wis.) and Phil Rendell (Denver, Colo.) “The wear and tear of the season is really catching up to us.”

The Cardinals (0-6-0 MIAC, 2-13-0 overall) are now off until next Saturday, when they play host to Saint John's in an MIAC contest at Ochrymowycz Field.
