ST. PAUL, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University swimming and diving teams head to St. Paul for the fourth straight weekend, this time for a Friday dual meet against Hamline. SMU will then head to Moorhead, Minn., for the Concordia Triangular on Saturday.

The SMU women picked up dual-meet wins over Hamline and Augsburg at the Hamline Quadrangular, while the Cardinals came up short in their dual against St. Catherine. The SMU men, meanwhile, beat Hamline in a dual-meet, 111-78.

The Cardinals have been off since Nov. 20, when the SMU men placed third at the Macalester Invitational, while the SMU women were fifth. … SMU's dual against Macalester on Nov. 19 and the Macalester Invitational on Nov. 20 marked the first time this season the Cardinals have competed on back-to-back days. This weekend's meets will mark the second time. … For the Cardinals' Mark Ross (Dubuque, Iowa), the Macalester Invitational was as easy as 1-2-3, as the sophomore picked up a first-place finish in the 200 backstroke (2;02.86), second in the 200 IM (2:08.26) and a third in the 100 backstroke (57.39). … Brandon Matis (Blaine, Minn.), coming off first-place finishes in the 100 freestyle (53.80) and the 100 breaststroke (1:07.01) vs. the Scots in their Nov. 19 dual, chipped in a sixth-place effort in the 100 breaststroke (1:08.03) and a pair of eighth-place efforts in the 400 IM (5:05.02) and the 100 butterfly (1:05.28) at the Macalester Invitational. … Lisa Lucas' (Gunnison, Colo.) third-place showing in the 1000 freestyle (12:01.46) led the way for the SMU women at the Macalester Invite.
