ST. PETER, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University men's soccer team, coming off a 1-0 nonconference loss to nationally ranked and unbeaten UW-Oshkosh in Oshkosh, Wis., Saturday, return to conference place on Tuesday, traveling to Gustavus for a 4 p.m. contest against the Gusties.

UW-Oshkosh scored the game's only goal 13 minutes into the second half as the 20th-ranked and unbeaten Titans handed SMU a 1-0 nonconference setback Saturday in Oshkosh, Wis. Gustavus, meanwhile, battled Saint John's to a 0-0 conference tie Saturday in St. Peter, Minn.

Today's game at Gustavus is the third straight road game for the Cardinals, who finally return home on Saturday for an MIAC game against Concordia. … The Cardinals held high-powered UW-Oshkosh — which entered Saturday's game averaging more than four goals a game — to a single, second-half tally. … Last Tuesday's game marked the second straight season in which SMU and Viterbo have gone into overtime. The two teams battled to a 1-1 double-overtime tie a year ago. … Tuesday's loss also snapped an eight-game unbeaten streak (4-0-4) in overtime games. SMU's last OT loss was a 3-2 setback vs. Macalester during the 2006 season. … Juamaine Venter scored his team-leading fifth goal of the season to account for SMU's goal vs. the V-Hawks last Tuesday. … Venter, who recorded the first two-goal game of his career vs. Crown on Sept. 7, is also the team-leader in points with 12. … After scoring just two goals in his first two seasons with the Cardinals combined, Venter has already netted five goals in nine games this season.
