BOSTON, Mass. — The Saint Mary's University women's hockey team kicks off the 2011 portion of its schedule on Monday, taking on Trinity College during the opening day of the UMass-Boston Codfish Bowl Tournament.

Last Action:
The Cardinals have been off since taking three of four conference points from St. Catherine on Dec. 3-4. SMU opened with a 2-2 tie vs. the Wildcats at the SMU Ice Arena, then followed up with a 4-0 win in the rematch at Ridder Arena in Minneapolis, Minn. Trinity picked up back-to-back wins over Norwich and Salve Regina on Dec. 10-11, as the Bantams beat fifth-ranked Norwich 2-1 on Dec. 10, then bounced Salve Regina 7-2 a day later. Bowdoin has been off since Dec. 10, when the Polar Bears held off Colby 3-1 in an NESCAC contest in Brunswick, Maine. UMass-Boston also last played on Dec. 10-11, beating Wesleyan (6-2) and Colby (2-1) on the Beacons' home ice.

The Cardinals have never faced any of the teams in this year's Codfish Bowl.

Following the Codfish Bowl, the Cardinals are off until Jan. 15, when they host St. Olaf in a 3 p.m. nonconference game at the SMU Ice Arena.

The Bantams — ranked No. 8 in the latest USCHO.com Poll — head into the Codfish Bowl riding a two-game winning streak and a three-game (2-0-1) unbeaten streak. … Trinity had its season-opening three-game winning streak snapped when the Bantams suffered their lone loss of the season, a 6-2 decision vs. Amherst on Dec. 3. … Trinity has outscored its opponents 17-7 in its five wins. … Sunday's game against Saint Mary's is the second neutral-site game of the season for the Bantams, who have yet to play a game at their opponent's home rink. … Kim Weiss enters tournament play as the Bantams' offensive leader in goals (7) and points (12).
