NORTHFIELD, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University women's basketball team hits the road on Wednesday, traveling to St. Olaf for a 7:30 p.m. conference showdown with the Oles.

The Cardinals got off to a slow start and never recovered, falling to league-leading St. Thomas 69-55 at the SMU Gym Monday evening. St. Olaf, meanwhile, rallied from an 18-point halftime deficit to beat Augsburg 75-69 in Northfield, Minn., Monday.

A Year Ago:
January 13, 2010: With St. Olaf holding SMU leading scorer Jess Miller (Carver, Minn.) to just five points, the Cardinals turned to Sarah Adie, who picked up Miller's slack to the tune of a career-high 17 points in helping guide Saint Mary's to a 62-53 conference win at the SMU Gym.

February 17, 2010: Jessica Thone (Woodbury, Minn.) scored a game-high 15 points and Jess Miller (Carver, Minn.) chipped in 13, but the Cardinals missed their final seven field goal attempts, as St. Olaf rallied from a four-point halftime deficit to beat SMU 55-52 in an MIAC game in Northfield, Minn.

The Cardinals are back on the road on Saturday, traveling to Northfield, Minn., for a 1 p.m. conference contest against Carleton. St. Olaf, meanwhile, begins a three-game road swing on Saturday, traveling to St. Catherine for a 3 p.m. game against the Wildcats.

Jessica Thone (Woodbury, Minn.) scored a game-high 15 points in the Cardinals' loss to league-leading St. Thomas Monday. … Brittany Begrowicz (Des Plaines, Ill.) pulled down a game-high seven rebounds against the Tommies Monday. The effort was two shy of her career best nine-rebound effort against Augsburg on Dec. 1, 2010. … Courtney Euerle (Litchfield, Minn.) scored a team-high eight points and pulled down eight rebounds in the Cardinals' Dec. 12 game vs. Concordia — both were career highs. … Euerle's efforts marked the only time this season that Jess Miller (Carver, Minn.), Cherie Kulig (Independence, Wis.) or Thone did not lead the team in scoring. … Miller has started every game during her four-year career at SMU, a span of 83 straight games. … Thone and Jamie Stefely (Lisle, Ill.) each recorded their first double-double of the season on Dec. 4 against Macalester. Thone scored 13 points and added 10 rebounds, while Stefely netted 10 points and hauled in 10 boards. Monday's come-from-behind win over Augsburg was the Oles' second straight victory. … Five of St. Olaf's six wins have come on the Oles' home court, where they boast a 5-2 record. … Terin Euerle collected a double-double of 18 points and 11 rebounds against the Auggies Monday. … Euerle scored all of her game-high 18 points in the second half against Augsburg, going 6-for-7 from the field and 6-for-8 from the free throw line. … Euerle is the fourth different player to lead the team in scoring in the Oles' last four games. … Mackenzie Wolter and Katie Lauer enter tonight's game vs. Saint Mary's as the team's offensive leaders, averaging 11.8 ppg and 10.7 ppg, respectively. … Lauer and Wolter have also accounted for 30 of the team's 51 3-pointes, with Lauer knocking down 16, while Wolter has netted 16. … St. Olaf has dominated the second half through its first nine games, outscoring its opponents 350-261 in the game's final 20 minutes | 2010-2011 Overall Statistics
