WINONA, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University swimming and diving teams are back in action after the lengthy Christmas break on Saturday, hosting Hamline in a dual meet at the Jul Gernes Pool.

The Cardinal swimmers have been off since Dec. 3, when the placed fifth (men) and seventh (women) at the St. Thomas Invitational in St. Paul, Minn. The Cardinal divers, meanwhile, have been off since competing at the St. Catherine Diving Invitational on Dec. 10 in St. Paul, Minn.

Mark Ross (Dubuque, Iowa) recorded a third-place finish in the 200 backstroke (2:03.56) and a seventh-place showing in the100 backstroke (57.26) to pace the Cardinal men at the St. Thomas Invitational on Dec. 3. … Neil Heacox (San Diego, Calif.) proved to be a very busy Cardinal at UST, placing fifth in the 100 breaststroke (1:05.48), seventh in the 200 breaststroke (2:26.23) and ninth in the 200 IM (2:13.93). … Linda Tierney (Cloquet, Minn.) led the way for the SMU women at the UST Invitational, placing eighth in the 400 IM (5:11.72) and 13th in the 100 freestyle (59.02). … Sarah Jansen (Manitowoc, Wis.) added an 11th in the three-meter diving (134.75) and Anna Smaron (Maple Plain, Minn.) recording a 16th in the 100 breaststroke (1:18.91). … Liz Flynn (Mahtomedi, Minn.) enters Saturday's dual against Hamline as the school's record-holder in three diving categories — one-meter, six dives (320.50), 3-meter, six dives (233.60) and 3-meter, 11 dives (352.70). … Flynn set the three-meter, six-dive record at the Macalester Roger Ahlman Invitational on Nov. 19. … The St. Catherine Diving Invitational marked the first time SMU's divers will compete in an 11-dive competition this season. … Sarah Jansen (Manitowoc, Wis.) posted a 290.20 total in the 11-dive one-meter competition at the SCU event, while adding a score of 241.35 in the three-meter. … Brian Baker (Wykoff, Minn.) finished with a score of 294.20 in the one-meter and a score of 269.40 in the three-meter.
