ST. PAUL, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University women's basketball team concludes its busy conference week on Saturday, traveling to Macalester for a 1 p.m. MIAC game against the Scots.

The Cardinals got off to a slow start and never recovered in falling to Gustavus 69-45 Wednesday evening at the SMU Gym. … Macalester, meanwhile, managed just 39 points in dropping a 54-39 conference decision to Augsburg at Leonard Center in St. Paul, Minn.

December 4, 2010: Down by three at the half, the Cardinals regrouped in the second half, whittling away at the Scots' lead, before finally taking just their second lead of the game, 55-53, with 7:29 remaining — and SMU never looked back in beating Macalester 66-60 at Leonard Center in St. Paul, Minn.
January 29, 2011: SMU held a 51-33 lead with 10 minutes remaining, but Macalester went on an 18-1 run to end the game. That one point, however, turned out to be the difference as the Cardinals held off the Scots 52-51 at SMU Gym.

Saturday's game at Macalester is the first of three straight road games for the Cardinals, who — after playing seven of their first nine games at home — play four of their next five contests away from the SMU Gym. … Adrianna Stephens (Madison, Wis.) scored a career-high 15 points in Wednesday's loss to Gustavus, as the Cardinal freshman went 5-for-13 from the field — including a 3-for-6 performance from behind the 3-point line. … Courtney Euerle (Hutchinson, Minn.) also scored in double figures vs. GAC Wednesday, netting 13 points. … Euerle has now scored in double figures in back-to-back games and five times in SMU's first 10 games. … Jessica Thone (Woodbury, Minn.), who has led the team in scoring in three of their last six games, owns the season's top three individual offensive outputs, scoring a season-high 23 points vs. Concordia, 19 against Elmhurst and 17 vs. UW-La Crosse. … Thone's 23-point effort vs. Concordia on Dec. 7 marked the fourth time in her career that she has scored 20 or more points, and was four points shy of her career-best 27 points scored vs. Carleton on Jan. 4, 2010. … Thone enters Saturday's game at Macalester boasting a team-leading 11.2 ppg. … Euerle and Jamie Stefely (Lisle, Ill.) each notched their first double-doubles of the season in SMU's 58-57 conference-opening win over Carleton on Nov. 30, marking SMU's first double, double-double since Stefely and Thone hit double figures in both points and rebounds against Macalester on Dec. 4, 2010. … Stefely leads the team in rebounds with 81 (8.1 rpg). … The Cardinals, who are averaging 57.4 ppg this season, have knocked down 50 3-pointers, led by Thone with 13. … Last Monday's 69-44 victory over St. Catherine snapped the Cardinals' season-high four-game losing streak, and gave SMU its first road win of the season. … The Cardinals' 69 points against the Wildcats Monday were a season high, and marked the fourth time in nine games SMU has netted 60 or more points. … SMU also recorded season-highs in field goals (30), field goal attempts (78), 3-point attempts (23), rebounds (51), steals (15) and blocked shots (7) against St. Catherine.

Wednesday's 54-39 loss to Augsburg snapped the Scots' two-game winning streak. … After opening the season 2-1, Macalester is 2-5 in its last seven contests. … Macalester's 39 points against Augsburg Wednesday were a season low. On the flip side, the Auggies' 54 points were the second-fewest allowed by the Scots this season. … Macalester has scored 60 or more points in its three wins, and has been held to under 60 points in each of its six losses. … Holly Schiedermayer scored a team-high 10 points in Wednesday's loss to Augsburg. It was the third straight game and the sixth time in 10 games that the senior has led the Scots in scoring. … Schniedermayer enters Saturday's game against Saint Mary's averaging 13.7 ppg, while Jessica Rene is second at 9.9 ppg. … Schiedermayer als leads the team in rebounding with 74 (7.4 rpg), while Rene is the team's 3-point leader, netting 17 of the Scots' 38 treys. … Three of Macalester's four wins have come on the road this season. The Scots are just 1-4 on their home court.
