WINONA, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University women's hockey team opens the home portion of its schedule on Saturday, as the Cardinals host Hamline in the second game of their two-game conference series at 2 p.m. at the SMU Ice Arena

November 11, 2011: Brittany Therrien (Brooklyn Park, Minn.) scored the game's only goal midway through the first period and Sarah Gustafson (Esko, Minn.) stopped all 21 shots she faced, as the Cardinals topped Hamline 1-0 at the SMU Ice Arena.
November 12, 2011: For the second night in a row, one goal was all the Cardinals could muster against Hamline. And for the second night in a row, one goal was enough to earn the Cardinals a key conference points, as SMU — coming off a 1-0 MIAC victory over the Pipers on Friday at the SMU Ice Arena — battled Hamline to a 1-1 tie, giving Saint Mary's there of a possible four conference points in their first MIAC series of the season.

Up Next:
The Cardinals are back on their home ice next Friday, hosting St. Catherine in a 7 p.m. conference game at the SMU Ice Arena. SMU and SCU then head to Drake Arena in St. Paul, Minn., on Saturday for a 4 p.m. rematch. … Hamline, meanwhile, steps out of conference play on Tuesday, hosting St. Scholastica in a 7 p.m. game at Drake Arena.

Saturday's game at Saint Mary's is the first of three straight road contests for the Pipers, who played their first four games this season at home. … Six of HU's next eight games — beginning with Saturday's at SMU — will be played on the road. … Hamline's 2-0 win over St. Catherine last Saturday snapped the Pipers' season-opening two-game losing streak. The Pipers had dropped 6-1 and 4-1 decisions to UW-Superior on Oct. 26-27. … Hamline's win over St. Catherine last Saturday was the Pipers' first vs. the Wildcats since the 2009 season. … Kendra Krause scored HU's lone goal vs. Saint Mary's Friday. It was her team-leading second goal of the season and marked the second straight game in which the freshman has scored. … Ashley Maskel, Jordan Verleye and Haleigh Bolton have accounted for Hamline's other three goals this season. … Maskel is also one of seven Pipers to record an assist this season. … Sarah Schneekloth, who stopped a career-high 47 shots in recording her first collegiate shutout against St. Catherine last Saturday, finished with 29 saves against Saint Mary's Friday. … Schneekloth has now started three of Hamline's four games, compiling a 2.64 goals-against-average, while stopping 110 of the 118 shots she's faced for a .932 save percentage. … Last Saturday's game vs. St. Catherine marks the only time this season the Pipers scored the game's first goal.
