SMU vs. Lake Forest — Their Last Meeting:
January 9, 2009: Heading into its against Lake Forest, coach Bill Moore was worried about his team showing signs of rust. After all, the Cardinals hadn't played since dropping a 7-6 overtime decision to Hamline on Dec. 6. Through the opening 20 minutes, Moore's concerns were put to rest, as the Cardinals — fueled by a goal by Andy Roberts — held a 1-0 lead. During that first-period intermission, however, that rust made an appearance — on all the Cardinals' skates — as the Foresters erupted for five unanswered goals en route to a 5-2 victory at the SMU Ice Arena.

Up Next:
The Cardinals are now off until Jan. 4-5, when they play their final two nonconference games of the season. SMU travels to Aschwaubenon, Wis., for a 7 p.m. showdown with defending national champion St. Norbert on Jan. 4, and then heads to Stevens Point, Wis., for a 7 p.m. matchup with UW-Stevens Point the following night. … Lake Forest, meanwhile, is also headed for a lengthy break, not returning to the ice until Jan. 11-12, when the Foresters head to Ashland, Wis., for a pair of games against Northland.
