WINONA, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University track and field teams kick off their outdoor seasons on Friday, taking part in the Winona State University Last-Minute Invitational at Paul Giel Field. Field events get underway at 3:30 p.m., with running events starting at 4 p.m.

Cardinals' Last Action:
March 2-3, 2012: The Cardinals have been off since closing out the indoor portion of their 2012 schedule at the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships in St. Paul, Minn. The SMU men finished 11th, while the Cardinal women were 12th.

Up Next:
The Cardinals hit the road on Wednesday, traveling to Dubuque, Iowa, to take part in the Loras Invitational.

Coco Booker (St. Paul, Minn.) highlighted the Cardinals' showing at the indoor season-ending MIAC Championships, as the Cardinal junior uncorked a career-best toss of 42-feet, 7-inches to finish second and earn All-MIAC honors. … Booker's 42-7 throw was a Leonard Center Field House record, broken by eventual MIAC champion Becky Culp of Hamline (42-8). … Kassondra Burtis (Fairmont, Minn.) recorded a throw of 14.24 meters to place eighth in the shot put at the conference championships, while Peter Borash (Bowlus, Minn.) stopped the clock in 4:29.91 to finish ninth in the mile. … Aaron Haley (Plainview, Minn.) had a busy two days at the MIAC, placing 10th in the 5,000 (14:45.56) and 19th in the 3,000 (9:03.99). … John Soucheray (Woodbury, Minn.) chipped in a 19th-place effort in the 1,000 (2:38.50). … Jake Traxler (Le Center, Minn.) was 28th in the 3,000 (9:20.35). …  In relay competition at the conference championships, the SMU men's distance medley  team of Soucheray, Gabe Thiel (Elgin, Minn.), Borash and Traxler shattered the school record, placing ninth with a time of 10:48.69, while the Cardinal women's distance medley team of Amy Spitzmueller (New Brighton, Minn.), Kim Puk (Naperville, Ill.), Regina Quandt (Minneapolis, Minn.) and Katie Stolz (Forest Lake, Minn.) placed 11th with a time of 13:27.42.
