GameDay Preview
MENOMONIE, Wis. —
Coco Booker (St. Paul, Minn.) was good in the Saint Mary's University's indoor track and field opener at St. Thomas last weekend.
The Cardinal senior was even better on Saturday, as Booker uncorked a season-best throw of 12.91 meters to finish fourth and highlight SMU's performance at the non-team-scored UW-Stout Warren Bowlus Invitational.
“We had some really strong performances,” said SMU coach Shawn McMahon. “And on top of that list was Coco's throw. She really had a good day.”
And Booker was along in that “good day.”
Maya Booker (St. Paul, Minn.), who earned her first collegiate win in the weight throw at the St. Thomas Invitational a week ago, placed eight in the event on Saturday, posting a throw of 13.65 meters, while Abby Osborne was 10th (12.93 meters).
Beth Scott (Rochester, Minn.) placed second in the 1,000 (3:29.32), while Claire Siska (Rochester, Minn.) was sixth in the 800,
Colin Sheehan (Austin, Minn.) was sixth in the 800 (2:10.81) and
Katie Stolz (Forest Lake, Minn.) was seventh in the 3,000 (11:14.79).
The Cardinals are back in action next Saturday, when they head to Duluth, Minn., to take part in the St. Scholastica Border Battle.
