WINONA, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University swimming and diving teams hit the pool on Saturday, as the Cardinals host the six-tea SMU Invitational at the Jul Gernes Pool.

Last Action:
Saint Mary's, St. Thomas, Hamline and Augsburg were all in action last Saturday at the St. Thomas Relays last weekend, while St. Catherine opened its 2013-14 season at the Augsburg Pentathlon on Oct. 19 and Saturday's meets at Saint Mary's and UW-Eau Claire are the first of the season for Gustavus.

Saturday's SMU Invitational is the only home meet of the first semester for the Cardinals. … Claire Judeh (Eagan, Minn.) placed fifth and Rose Berg-Arnold (Saint Joseph, Minn.) was eighth in the one-meter diving to highlight the Cardinal women's effort at the season-opening St. Thomas Relays last Saturday. … Judeh added an eighth-place showing in the three-meter diving, with Berg-Arnold finishing 10th. … Evan Lecy (St. Paul, Minn.) led the way for the Cardinal men at last weekend's St. Thomas Relays, placing fourth in the three-meter and sixth in the one-meter diving competitions. … The Cardinals boasted 100 percent season-best performances at the season-ending Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships a year ago. … Mark Ross (Dubuque, Iowa) closed out an illustrious SMU career by placing 11th in the 200 backstroke (1:58.03) at the MIAC Championships, while missing qualifying for the 200 IM and 400 IM consolation finals by one place, clocking times of 2:02.31 and 4:25.00, respectively. … Ross' 4:25.00 in the 400 IM was 10 seconds faster than his previous season-best time. … Abby Kratzke (Dent, Minn.) also had a memorable final MIAC Championships, recording a time of 1:05.19 in the 100 butterfly, a 2:31.50 in the 200 butterfly, and a 26.94 in the 50 freestyle. … Anna Smaron (Maple Plain, Minn.) knocked almost 10 seconds off her season-best 200 IM time at the MIAC Championships, touching the wall in 2:23.75, while also adding a time of 1:13.90 in the 100 breaststroke. … P.J.
