Last Action:
Mark Schumacher (Perham, Minn.) tossed in a game-high 19 points — hitting 4 of 4 3-pointers in the second half — but the Cardinals could not overcome a 40-22 halftime deficit in falling to Carleton 60-47 at the SMU Gym Saturday. … Concordia, meanwhile, rode the 3-point shooting of Andrew Martinson to an 85-52 MIAC win over Macalester at Leonard Center in St. Paul, Minn.

SMU vs. Concordia — Earlier This Year:
January 7, 2013: Michael Burfeind (Lewiston, Minn.) eclipsed the 20-point barrier for the fourth time in the last six games, but SMU did not have an answer for Concordia's red-hot shooting from behind the arc, as the Cobbers drained nine 3-pointers — including eight in the first half — en route to a 93-72 MIAC victory at Memorial Auditorium in Moorhead, Minn.

SMU vs. Concordia — A Year Ago:
December 7, 2011: After scoring a career-high 26 points in SMU's loss at Saint John's two days earlier, the question was pretty simple — what would the Cardinals' Michael Burfeind (Lewiston, Minn.) do for an encore? How about 20 points in the game's opening 20 minutes and yet another career-best effort of 38 points against Concordia. Burfeind's Herculean effort, however, was not enough, as SMU trailed by 11 points at the half for the third consecutive game and could not recover, falling to the Cobbers 85-78 in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game at Memorial Auditorium in Moorhead, Minn.
January 30, 2012: SMU proved to be in a streak-snapping mood when the Cardinals took the court against Concordia. Not only did SMU put an end to its three-game losing streak and the Cobber's two-game winning streak with a 64-60 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference victory, but the Cardinals also handed CC its first loss in eight games when leading at halftime.
