D3hoops.com All-Region Teams
WINONA, Minn. — The post-season awards keep piling up for Saint Mary's University's
Jamie Stefely (Lisle, Ill.).
Stefely, who helped guide the SMU women's basketball team to a second-place finish in the regular-season team standings — and a second-straight berth in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament semifinals — was named to the D3hoops.com All-West Region Third Team, it was announced Wednesday.
The D3hoops.com All-Region honor comes on the heels of Stefely being named First-Team All-MIAC for the second consecutive year.
Stefely led the team in scoring, finishing her senior season averaging a team-best 13.5 points-per-game — including five games of 20 or more points. She scored in double figures in 23 of the team's 27 games, including each of the last 11, and netted a season-high 23 against St. Thomas on Jan. 23. Stefely was also second on the team in rebounding with 170 boards (6.5 rpg) and led the team with five double-doubles.
Stefely was one of six MIAC players named to one of the three D3hoops.com All-West Region teams. Concordia's Emily Thesing — the MIAC Player of the Year — was named to the All-West Region First Team, while Hamline's Jordan Sammons and Bethel's Rachel Parupsky were Second Team selections and St. Thomas' Kellie Ring and Taylor Johnson joined Stefely on the Third Team.
Simpson's Kate Nielsen was tabbed the West Region Player of the Year, while Storm coach Brian Niemuth was named Coach of the Year and Parupsky was Rookie of the Year.
