ST. PAUL, Minn. — Peter Borash (Bowlus, Minn.) enjoyed the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference's center stage Friday evening, posting the fastest time in the 1,500, qualifying for the finals with a season-best time of 4:03.07.

Borash was at it again Saturday — recording a time of 4:13.01 to place sixth overall — but this time around, that was just the tip of the Saint Mary's University MIAC Championships iceberg.

Maya Booker (St. Paul, Minn.) enjoyed a stellar afternoon in the hammer throw competition, as the sophomore uncorked a toss of 44.80 meters on her final throw to place fifth overall.

Jake Traxler (Le Center, Minn.) and Katie Stolz (Forest Lake, Minn.) continued to be the Cardinals' 1-2 punch in the steeplechase events, as Traxler — the Cardinal men's record-holder in the event — posted a sixth-place time of 9:56.49, while Stolz — the women's record-holder — narrowly missed bettering her mark, crossing the finish line in 11:52.56 to finish seventh.

Bryan Ortman made his inaugural conference championships a memorable one, equaling Traxler's sixth-place effort, delivering a leap of 12.86 meters to place sixth in the triple jump, while Ryan Winegardner (Northfield, Minn.) also posted a solid effort in the steeplechase for the SMU men, stopping the clock in 10:23.72 to place 13th,

Aaron Haley (Plainview, Minn.) recorded a time of 15:42.00 en route to a 15th-place finish in the 5,000, with John Soucheray (Woodbury, Minn.) close behind in 15:58.57) to place 18th. Gus Wiggert (La Crosse, Wis.) added a toss of 12.38 meters in the shot put and Clare Siska (Rochester, Minn.) notched a time of 13:25.16 in the steeplechase to place 18th.

In Friday's Day 1 action for the Cardinal men, Jed McGlasson (Kenai, Alaska) clocked a time of 57.92 in the 400 hurdles, while Gus Wiggert (La Crosse, Wis.) kicked off a busy weekend recording a throw of 41.89 meters in the hammer throw.

On the women's side, Coco Booker (St. Paul, Minn.) placed 10th in the shot put, recording a throw of 11.65 meters, while Laura Schommer (Hutchinson, Minn.) notched a time of 13.36 in the 100, Jocelyn Moreno (Cicero, Ill.) stopped the clock in 5:11.99 in the 1,500, Kim Puk (Naperville, Ill.) posted a time of 65.90 in the 400, and Abby Osborne (Winthrop, Minn.) uncorked a toss of 27.04 meters in the javelin.
