MIAC WBB Athletes of Week
WINONA, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University women's basketball team — ranked nationally in the D3hoops.com — has climbed to the top rung of the MIAC ladder.
And
Courtney Euerle (Litchfield, Minn.) has been a key reason for the Cardinals' success.
Monday afternoon, the senior forward was recognized for her efforts, being named MIAC Athlete of the Week, after averaging 17.0 ppg and 7.7 rpg in leading the Cardinals to a 3-0 showing last week.
Euerle opened the week Monday with a career-high 20 points to go along with six boards, three blocked shots and three assists in a 54-51 win at Augsburg. Wednesday, she recorded her first double-double of the season with 14 points, 12 rebounds, four assists and two blocks in a 71-54 win over Bethel, and Saturday she had 18 points, five rebounds and a pair of steals as SMU took down Saint Benedict, 85-73, on the road.
Euerle enters Wednesday's game against St. Olaf with a team-leading 12.7 ppg scoring averaging, while also leading the team in rebounding with 7.5 rpg.
The Cardinals, atop the conference standings with a 12-1 record — one game in front of Concordia and St. Thomas — are riding a 12-game winning streak, the program's longest since 1985-86, when they opened the year with 19 straight wins.
