NORTHFIELD, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University men's basketball team takes to the road on Monday, as the Cardinals head to Carleton for a 7:30 p.m. Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game against the Knights.

The Cardinals dug themselves an early hole and could not recover, falling to nationally ranked St. Thomas 87-58 in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game Saturday at the SMU Gym. … Carleton jumped out to a quick 9-2 advantage, but it was Gustavus' finishing kick that proved to be the difference, as the Gusties handed the Knights a 57-39 conference setback Saturday in St. Peter, Minn.

January 5, 2013: SMU boasted four players in double figures — led by Mark Schumacher (Perham, Minn.) and Michael Burfeind (Lewiston, Minn.) — but Carleton used a 9-4 run to open the second half and slowly pulled away in handing the Cardinals an 83-60 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference setback at West Gym in Northfield, Minn.
February 2, 2013: Carleton 50 percent from the field, including a 12-for-21 performance in the game's opening 20 minutes, as the Knights raced out to a 40-22 halftime advantage and held off SMU's furious second-half comeback to deal the Cardinals a 60-47 setback at the SMU Gym.

Bakari Collins (Kenosha, Wis.) scored a team-high 11 points in the Cardinals' loss to nationally ranked and league-leading St. Thomas Saturday. It was the fourth time this season the freshman has scored in double figures and the first time he has led the team in scoring. … The Cardinals have now had a different leading scorer in each of their last three games — Evan Pederson (Onalaska, Wis.) and Wylie Ferron (Waconia, Minn.) are the other two. Carleton was limited to a season-low 37 points in a 65-37 setback at St. Olaf on Dec. 3. … Carleton's 82-52 setback at St. Thomas on Jan. 4 snapped the Knight's season-high four-game winning streak. … After opening the season with four straight losses, the Knights head into Monday's game vs. Saint Mary's 5-2 in their last seven games. … St. Thomas' 82 points marked the first time this season Carleton has allowed more than 80 points in a game this season. … John Eckert scored a team-high nine points against the Gusties Saturday.
