WINONA, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University of Minnesota women's soccer team entered Saturday's Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game against Saint Benedict with a full head of steam—thanks to a 1-0, double-overtime win over UW-La Crosse on Wednesday.

Thirty seconds into their showdown with the Blazers, however, Saint Benedict, however, took the wind right out of the Cardinals' sails—and they never recovered.

Taylor Hedin scored just 30 seconds into the opening half, and the Blazers would add a second goal before halftime in dealing the Cardinals a 2-0 setback at Ochrymowycz Field.

Clinging to that 1-0 lead, the Blazers gave themselves a little breathing room late in the half, as Reina Nelson netted her first of the season in the 37th minute to give CSB a two-goal cushion heading into the second half.

Miranda Halling (Rochester, Minn.) finished with two saves in goal for the Cardinals, while Heather Kaluzniak earned the shutout in goal for the Blazers.

Saint Mary's is back in action on Wednesday, traveling to St. Paul, Minn., for a 3:30 p.m. conference contest against Hamline.
