ST. JOSEPH, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University of Minnesota and Saint Benedict volleyball things had one thing in common heading into Friday's Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference showdown—neither team liked to waste any time on the court.
Efficiency mattered.
The Cardinals took to the court at Claire Lynch Hall having recorded eight of its 11 wins in three sets—including back-to-back wins against Bethel and Macalester last week, neither of which lasted more than 60 minutes.
The Blazers, meanwhile, lined up opposite Saint Mary's boasting nine three-set wins among their 11 victories.
And Friday was no different—a 3-0 outcome.
Unfortunately for the Cardinals, it was Saint Benedict doing the sweeping, dropping the Cardinals 25-21, 25-20, 27-25.
Molly Grover led the way for the Cardinals, collecting 13 kills, with
Macki Fadness chipping in 10. Brittany Hanson tallied a team-high 21 assists, five more than
Tayler MacVey.
Kenzie Lind led three Cardinals with 10 or more digs, finishing with 15
The Cardinals (2-2 MIAC, 11-6 overall—who had their six-match winning streak snapped—are back in action on Saturday, traveling to Moorhead, Minn., for a 1:30 p.m. match.
