WINONA, Minn. — If the Saint Mary's University of Minnesota men's soccer team has proven one thing, it's that when the Cardinal score, the goals come in bunches.
Heading into Tuesday's nonconference game against Buena Vista, Saint Mary's had erupted for a combined 15 goals in their four wins.
Make that 17 goals in their five victories.
The Cardinals scored single goals in each half and
Joey Petrich posted his first shutout of the season, as Saint Mary's won its second straight with a 2-0 win over the Beavers at Ochrymowycz Field.
Joe Bosco got the Cardinals on the board late in the first half, and
Matt Graber pushed that advantage to 2-0 eight minutes into the second.
And while Bosco and Graber were doing their part on the offensive end, Petrich was doing his on the defensive end—stopping all three shots he faced for career shutout No. 3.
The Cardinals (5-5-1) are back on the field on Thursday, hosting Simpson in a 7 p.m. nonconference game at Ochrymowycz Field.
