STEVENS POINT, Wis. — The events keep getting bigger — and so do the performances of the Saint Mary's University track and field teams.

The Cardinals, competing at two separate events, put together another strong showing, as the SMU throwers took part in the Saint John's Invitational, while the rest of the squad made their presence felt at the UW-Stevens Point Eastbay Invitational.

Maya Booker (St. Paul, Minn.) led the way for the throwers at Saint John's, placing second in the weight throw with a lifetime best toss of 14.74. Abi Osbrone (Winthrop, Minn.) added a seventh in the weight (13.81 meters), while on the men's side, Tyler Kircher (Cashton, Minn.) — coming off a PR throw a week ago at the UW-Superior Border Battle — uncorked a throw of 14.63 meters to place fifth, with Gus Wiggert (La Crosse, Wis.) chipping in a ninth in the shot put with a throw of 13.06.

Meanwhile, over in Stevens Point, Wis., Clare Siska (Rochester, Minn.) moved up to fourth all-time in program history with a time of 19:27.16 to place second in the 5,000, while the 4x200 relay team of Rebecca Krueger (Ashland, Wis.), Sara McNary (Deforest, Wis.), Laura Schommer (Hutchinson, Minn.) and Tessa Scanlon (Cologne, Minn.) chipped in a seventh-place time of 1:52.82

Kreuger added a 14th-place showing in the 60 (8.36), with Schommer right on her heels, finishing in 8.37. Katherine Mockler (Dubuque, Iowa) recorded a time of 12:04.61 in the 3,000

Bryan Ortman (Chicago, Ill.) reached the finals in the triple jump, posting a leap of 11.94 meters to place ninth, while Jacob Hagen-Erickson (Austin, Minn.) missed making the finals of the long jump by one centimeter, finishing with a jump of 6.04 meters.

The Cardinals are back in action next Saturday, traveling to Northfield, Minn., to take part in the Ole Invitational — their final meet before the MIAC Indoor Championships.
